Takaful Insurance Training: Emphasis on Public Awareness and Accurate Information

The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), in collaboration with its partners TAN-RE and ATI, successfully conducted an official training on Takaful Insurance for service providers in the insurance sector on the Islands today, Monday, July 28, 2025. The training took place at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Chief Government Statistician.

While delivering her keynote speech, the Guest of Honour, Engineer Zena Said, Secretary to the Revolutionary Council and Chief Secretary, commended the initiative and emphasized the need for continuous education to raise awareness among citizens about the benefits of enrolling in Takaful. She also stressed the importance of providing accurate information to help the public understand its principles and operational mechanisms.

On her part, the Deputy Insurance Commissioner, Ms. Khadija Said, in her opening remarks, expressed appreciation to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for its cooperation with the insurance sector. She also emphasized that the purpose of the training was to enhance knowledge on various insurance matters, which will contribute to promoting inclusive insurance.

The seminar included a session for questions from stakeholders, which sparked fruitful discussions and provided valuable education to service providers—who play a crucial role in ensuring that insurance reaches all citizens, offering protection and contributing to national income growth.
