Our history started in 1979, when Mr. Clement Z. Kwayu and Mrs. Frediel Kwayu founded a private management consulting firm under the name Business Management Consultant (BUMACO). One of BUMACO initial assignments was to provide advice on cooperatives risk management. This assignment was an eye opener to another line of business for BUMACO, which was to establish an insurance agency so as to serve people in managing their risks through appropriate insurance policies. In February 1980, Bumaco Insurance Agency was registered. The Agency dealt with both life and non-life insurance services. In 1997, when the Tanzanian market was liberalized and more insurance companies were registered, Bumaco Insurance Agency upgraded its registration to Bumaco Insurance Brokers. The Brokerage went on up to 2008, when Bumaco transformed into a fully-fledged insurance company known as Bumaco Insurance Company. The Company is 100% owned by Tanzanians.
