Parents of six children who were injured after being hit by a Haice vehicle while leaving church—an accident in which one child tragically lost their life—have received compensation payments covering medical and funeral expenses from Bumaco Insurance.
The incident, which occurred earlier this year, left a deep sorrow in the community, especially for the family that lost their child.
However, Bumaco Insurance stepped in to assist the families in accordance with the insurance terms related to the vehicle involved in the accident.
Speaking at the event where the compensation was handed over to the parents, Gasto Mrema, Sales Manager for Bumaco Insurance in the Kilimanjaro region, emphasized the importance of having insurance, describing it as essential protection during emergencies.
“Insurance is not a luxury but a necessity. No one knows what tomorrow holds, so every vehicle owner should ensure their vehicle is insured to provide support in emergencies like these,” said Mrema.
He also advised vehicle owners to always have valid insurance for their vehicles to protect themselves in case of accidents and urged drivers not to drive uninsured vehicles on the road.
On their part, some of the parents expressed gratitude to Bumaco Insurance for the support they received, saying it brought comfort during a very difficult time.
“We have been through great pain, but this assistance has wiped away our tears. We thank Bumaco for their compassion and hope they continue to help others affected by such tragedies,” said one parent.
The accident sparked a wider discussion about the importance of motor insurance, with road safety stakeholders calling for increased public education on laws and rights related to insurance coverage.
